Results of the Twelfth Meeting of Permanent Russian-Syrian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation
On December 25, 2019, in Moscow, during the 12th meeting of the Permanent Russian-Syrian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, the protocol on the cooperation, exchange of information, and mutual assistance with the unified system of tariff preferences of the Eurasian Economic Union was signed between the Federal Customs Service (the Russian Federation) and the Chief Customs Administration of the Syrian Arab Republic.
As for the Russian party, the document was signed by Vladimir Ivin, Deputy Head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, while as for the Syrian party – by Walid Muallem, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The protocol would simplify the procedure for granting the preferential treatment to all Syrian goods since the document would involve the preparation of the database of the Certificates of Origin for the goods by the Syrian party, which would be contacted by the Federal Customs Service of Russia to verify them.
Also, during the meeting of the Permanent Commission, the Parties discussed the relevant issues concerning the cooperation between the customs services of the Russian Federation and the Syrian Arab Republic. In particular, they agreed to provide, as soon as possible, the solution of the issues required for launching the Green Corridor project for all conscientious participants in the foreign economic activities in accordance with the protocol signed earlier by the Federal Customs Service of Russia and the Chief Customs Administration of Syria.
