About 2 kg of cocaine with an estimated value of 30 million rubles (469 000 US dollars) was found by customs officers from Siberian Customs Department in a parcel from Belgium when the parcel's recipient was detained near the post office in Novosibirsk. Operational search activities were conducted by officers of the Siberian enforcement customs in conjunction with the Central Enforcement Department of the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
The package contained about 1986.2 g of a white powdered substance placed in natural coffee cans in order to hide it from customs control. The examination showed that the seized substance was cocaine that was transported in a particularly large amount. The cost of this batch can be 30 million rubles (469 000 US dollars).
The customer-a 29 – year-old local resident gave the wrong personal data. During the search, he was seized mobile phones, packaging material for the sale of narcotic drugs, as well as substances that have signs of narcotic drugs, and money allegedly obtained from the sale of drugs. It was previously established that the intruder is the organizer of an online store selling narcotic drugs.
Siberian enforcement customs initiated a criminal case under item " b " of part 4 of article 229.1 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation (illegal movement of narcotic drugs on a large scale). This article provides for a penalty of 15 to 20 years ' imprisonment. A preventive measure in the form of detention was taken against the suspect.
